Links for the Lusophile: Week of Nov.21, 2011

This week's links are in Portuguese and one in English.

There is a general strike set for Thursday. If you're planning to take the metro in Lisboa that day--don't bother.  Other transports may be reducing or suspending service.

More images of the recently re-surfaced village of Vilarinho das Furnas. It has been submerged since the construction of a dam in the 1970s. The sight of the deserted homes that have reappeared are quite impressionable.

The Fado is being considered for UNESCO designation of Intangible Heritage.

A couple of young architects have been recognized for their work at the fourth annual Prémios Ascensores Enor in Galiza.

A recent book release includes the newest from Pepetela.  While the Gulbenkian has wrapped up a look at the work of poet Ruy Belo.

Gastrossexual (gotta love the name!) celebrates the sweet potato with a few recipes and for a festival (in honor of said veggie).  We get a culinary history lesson (about a tea company) from Garfadas Online and Tertúlia celebrates a blogging anniversary with a pumpkin pudding.
